Prior to being appointed as Executive Director of the Documentary Organization of Canada, Sarah Spring spent fifteen years actively involved in Canada's vibrant film community. In addition to serving as President of the Board of Montreal's RIDM (Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montréal), Sarah was a member of the Montreal Arts Council's cinema committee, and spent many years on the executive of DOC Quebec. The company she started with Selin Murat in 2010, Parabola Films, is a boutique production house that champions emerging filmmakers and under-represented voices. Sarah has also worked within the interactive arts sector through collaborations with MUTEK and La Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC). Sarah sits on the Board of the Canadian Independent Screen Fund for BPOC Creators (CISF), and consults for both artists and the institutions that finance them. In her role as Executive Director of DOC, Sarah advocates toward an equitable, functional and inclusive film industry.
