How can we see beyond the visible? How are subjective feelings and experiences reflected within the frame we select, and what tools can assist us in this process? The Netherlands Society of Cinematographers will host an in-depth talk with Ukrainian director of photography Viacheslav Tsvietkov. The film Militantropos (2025) will serve as the case study for this conversation, which will be moderated by film journalist Hugo Emmerzael.
Ukrainian cinematographer Viacheslav Tsvietkov is known for his work on internationally acclaimed documentaries such as This Rain Will Never Stop and The Earth Is Blue as an Orange. His cinematography often captures stories set in complex, visually demanding environments: war zones, frontlines, and socially charged realities. Described as having a natural, organic visual style, Tsvietkov’s work reveals the emotional core of intimate human experiences. In his latest project, Militantropos (2025), he explores the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and portrays the human condition through fragmented realities shaped by war.
