For the first time, the Netherlands Society of Cinematographers (NSC) and IDFA have initiated a cinematography masterclass this year’s festival, marking the fulfilment of a longstanding wish to dive into the work of cinematographers working in the realm of documentary. During this inaugural edition, we will dive into the work of an outstanding director and cinematographer, Viktor Kossakovsky. The talk will focus on visual language, inspiration and signature. How do camerawork and camera angles, style and rhythm relate to the particular film work, and to a broader body of work? How does collaboration between directors and cinematographers take shape? Where and how does the Director of Cinematography create meaning as a filmmaker?
Speaker: Victor Kossakovsky
Moderator: Nicolas Rapold
