Industry Meetup: Supporting Documentary Makers through Film Supervision
Industry Meetup: Supporting Documentary Makers through Film Supervision
Description

Documentary films often open conversations around tragedy and trauma that have far-reaching impacts on filmmakers and participants. Without the skills to safely navigate emotionally fraught topics, and already struggling to manage their own stress and struggles, so many filmmakers who want to work ethically feel at a loss and overwhelmed. At Film in Mind, we are pioneering a new type of support which we hope will become standard practice in the industry. Adapted from the Supervision model used to support therapists, we are offering Film Supervision – individual or group sessions where filmmakers can work through emotional, ethical, and creative dilemmas in their documentary practice or career. We are inviting production companies, filmmaking organizations, and filmmakers to this open discussion and brainstorming session. We want to understand the greatest challenges that you face around mental health, safeguarding, and ethical practice on productions. And crucially, we want your feedback on how Film Supervision can be best designed to meet the needs of your teams and to support your projects.
