IDFA Meets joins forces with Bonne Suits to spotlight Russian protest art. Following on from the exhibition curated by Bonne Suits dedicated to activist artist Pavel Krisevich at Galerie de Schans, IDFA is screening the acclaimed film Queendom, about Russian non-binary performance artist Gena.
Using duct tape, scrap materials, and makeup, Gena creates extravagant artworks as a form of protest against Putin’s regime. The film offers a raw and intimate portrayal of how art and resistance merge in a world where freedom of expression is increasingly under threat. Followed by a conversation with the director and producer.
