Each year, Dutch Docs Day brings together stakeholders from across the documentary industry to discuss the state of the sector, identify bottlenecks, and explore possible solutions. The event offers an afternoon of in-depth discussion and constructive dialogue aimed at strengthening, connecting, and inspiring the Dutch documentary community. In a landscape increasingly shaped by commercial imperatives and algorithmic visibility, independent film—with its depth, diversity, and cultural significance—often struggles to claim the space it deserves. This year’s edition invites participants to reflect on what is needed for productions to thrive and reach their audiences in an ever-changing media environment. Together, we will explore how collaboration, innovative distribution strategies, and audience design can contribute to a more sustainable and balanced documentary ecosystem.
Organized by the Netherlands Film Fund, NPO, NAPA, DDG, DAFF, SEE NL, and IDFA.
By invitation only.
Closed caption service for people who are deaf or hard of hearing is available for this session. Please ask our staff for QR codes to scan on your phone.
