Katja Schwarz, born in 1966, is a pioneer in "Green Filmmaking”. She is promoting sustainability in media production by consulting, teaching and writing for broadcasters and production companies, institutions and universities, festivals and filmmakers. Presently she is the Honorary Chairperson of the German Association of Green Film & TV Consultants. As a certified CSR and Sustainability Manager she oversees in-house productions at the first German public broadcaster BR in ARD and freelance production companies.
Katja began her career at megaherz tv and later joined Odeon Film AG, where she initiated Europe's first climate-neutral TV series in 2011. Since 2013, she has expanded the Tolle Idee! network's green filmmaking expertise. For two years Katja lead the sustainability management courses at the International Screen Institute. She aims to improve conditions and accelerate the transformation towards achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by creating cooperations and partnerships.
