Oxfam Novib will, as always, screen the best films from IDFA touching on urgent, compelling themes. This year, these are Everybody to Kenmure Street and Edward Said: Between Worlds.
Each screening will be followed by an in-depth discussion with the makers and experts.
IDFA Hit:Everybody to Kenmure Street
Sunday, November 15, 10.15 in Koninklijk Theater Pathé Tuschinski
A captivating account of the power of civil resistance. In May 2021, hundreds of residents of an ordinary neighborhood in Glasgow rise up in protest when immigration officers threaten to remove two of their neighbors.
Followed by an in-depth discussion with director Felipe Bustos Sierra, Nori Spauwen (writer and founder Embassy of Change) and Rukia Cornelius (Oxfam Novib). Moderated by Natasja Gibbs.
Edward Said: Between Worlds
Tuesday, November 17, 17.30, Koninklijk Theater Pathé Tuschinski
Edward Said (1935–2003) held world leaders to account, cut through dehumanizing language, and tirelessly spoke out against injustice. Archival material interweaves his personal and intellectual journey with the history of his homeland, Palestine.
Followed by an in-depth discussion with Lilian Alibux (Oxfam Novib) and Phaedra Haringsma (journalist, photographer). Moderated by Nawa Sira van Sluijs.
