IDFA Junior: Kinderen wijzen de weg
IDFA Junior: Kinderen wijzen de weg
Description

Children might not know exactly how the world works, but they often sense more keenly than adults how it could be made a better place. This year, IDFA Junior presents four classics, the young protagonists in which show us that imagination, persistence, and enthusiasm—along with vulnerability—can be powerful instruments. Their stories are an ode to curiosity and courage—to big dreams in an at times difficult world. Come and see A Home for LydiaThe Man Who Can, My Happy Complicated Family, and Skip and the Rhythm Rangers. With NOS Jeugdjournaal children’s news presenter Bart Tuinman.

IDFA Junior is for children aged 9+ (and their companions). Dutch spoken screening. Tickets cost €10 each.

The Man Who Can

The Man Who Can

11-year-old Malik, who has Down syndrome, moves to Senegal with his family. At first, he has difficulty finding his way, but when his father tells him a story about an African king, Malik rediscovers his self-confidence. Screening in Dutch as part of IDFA Junior.

My Happy Complicated Family

My Happy Complicated Family

In this fresh, uplifting film, we encounter three girls and their complicated families. At times it’s difficult with extra mothers, a donor dad, and step-siblings; but Isa, Dylan and Isabel also feel very much at home in their double families. Screening in Dutch as part of IDFA Junior.
Skip and the Rhythm Rangers

Skip and the Rhythm Rangers

Dance is the most important thing in 14-year-old Skip’s life—even if that means being teased by classmates who think dancing is for girls. When his group gets the chance to take part in a dance competition, he’s completely committed to the rehearsals. Screening in Dutch as part of IDFA Junior.
