An in-depth conversation with filmmaker Isaki Lacuesta, whose diverse body of work explores the lives of individuals against the backdrop of broader social and historical realities. Since his debut feature, Cravan vs. Cravan (2002), a creative investigation of the life of poet and boxer Arthur Cravan, Lacuesta has been playing with the boundaries between fiction and documentary, the real and the imagined. Born in Girona in 1975, Lacuesta maintains a strong connection to Spain while looking beyond its borders, exploring people, places, and their histories through an innovative approach to cinema that defies simple classification. In this Filmmaker Talk, Lacuesta will reflect on his prolific body of work, encompassing features, shorts, and video art.
This conversation is moderated by film critic, writer, curator, and filmmaker Neil Young.
This Filmmaker Talk accompanies a screening of Flamenco Sketches (2026). For tickets to the film screening, click here.
