In the Georgian mountain villages of Ushguli, customs dictate that only men can inherit land. When Ana, who dreams of a singing career, inherits a plot of land with her father’s house on it, she has to contend with her male cousin.
Rahhala: Hayya ala Hayya
This testimony of domestic violence is told by a woman who recalls fragmented memories of a decade of abuse endured by her and her sisters. The film consists entirely of abstract images and fragments of text—shards of a story.
