Artificial Sex (Ep. 1 & 2)

This interactive installation about possible alternatives to sex and binary genders got started after interdisciplinary artist Anan Fries ([Posthuman Wombs], 2021) had a sexy chat with their virtual girlfriend Alice, who was created using the Replica app. Do traditional notions of genitalia, reproduction and pleasure still hold up in a future world?

Alice and Fries—who is non-binary—devised new sexual organs and gave them palpable form using 3D printers. Literally palpable. Touch interface and you will see a video essay about digital culture and artificial intelligence, and the influence they have on ideas about sex and gender.

Fries also had a heated conversation with Ani, Elon Musk’s hyperactive AI anime girl. Surrounded by monstrous AI-generated pornography, they embark together on a search for the potentials of queerness and creativity within the digisexual revolution.
