As the globe unravels, a group of friends reunites for one final summer. Escaping a world shaped by war and a collapsing climate, they hit the road, fleeing to the end of the world in search of the last eternal ice. Under the blazing sun, they celebrate the final fleeting moments of hedonistic freedom. But as they try to escape reality, the past catches up with them. Together, they set out to find redemption, only to plunge into unforeseen depths.
What begins as an ecstatic retreat descends into a violent, hallucinatory nightmare. A swarm of drones disturbs the peace, blood and urine stain the ice, the ground is melting. The film unfolds as a fantastical vision of the end of the world, driven as much by image and sound as by narrative.
The cast includes, among others, musician Peaches and artist Florentina Holzinger, who this year was featured with her performers at the Austrian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Holzinger brings her distinctive physicality and confrontational performance style to the film, intensifying its collision of bodies, landscape, ecstasy and apocalypse.
