Time and space are no longer understood as neutral coordinates, but as territories shaped by power, memory, technology, and imagination. This Playroom brings together projects that intervene in how we locate ourselves in the present.
Across radically different scales, from the intimacy of a conversation, to a city street, an Arctic island, the movement of private jets and the global geography of aerial warfare: these works reveal how technologies increasingly mediate what we can see, remember, inhabit, anticipate, and prove. Who has the power to map a territory, preserve a history, define an event, authenticate a relationship, or anticipate catastrophe? What disappears when lived experience becomes data and what might technology allow us to make visible again?
In this DocLab Playroom we question how immersive and interactive tools might help us interrogate the world we already inhabit: its borders and absences, its archives and predictions, and the many competing realities layered onto the same place and moment.
What to expect?
DocLab Playrooms are informal gatherings where you can meet artists from the DocLab program and fellow festival visitors, and explore how art, documentary and technology come together. Watch artists demonstrate their work, join the conversation, try prototypes and interactive artworks, or simply enjoy a drink. No prior knowledge or experience is needed. Simply drop by de Brakke Grond (Rode Zaal) anytime between 15:00-19:00 and join in whenever you like.
