DocLab at the Planetarium: Sensing the Unseen
DocLab at the Planetarium: Sensing the Unseen
Description

The vast dome of the ARTIS-Planetarium opens up new possibilities for documentary, surrounding you with image and sound. This special evening brings together three works from the DocLab selection exploring time, everyday rituals and life after death.

Immerse yourself in the hypnotic Temporal Strata (Ping-Sheng Wu, Jie Liou) follow a man who has spent fifty years photographing everyday infrastructure in BENCHES (Clare Richards, Samuel D Loveless) and discover through microbial life gazing and taste how a father lives on in the earth in which he’s buried in My Father is Turning into Soil (Noa Jansma).

And, experience the groundbreaking VR work Notes on Blindness: Into Darkness (Arnaud Colinart, Amaury La Burthe, Peter Middleton, James Spinney) in a new adaptation created especially for fulldome.

An evening of watching, listening and tasting, presented in collaboration with ARTIS-Planetarium and Diversion.

BENCHES

Autistic photographer Tim Hart has been taking pictures of public benches for 50 years. This split-screen dome projection shows a film about him paired with an orchestra performing its score, written by his neurodivergent nephew, Samuel D Loveless.
Temporal Strata

Temporal Strata

What if time had a physical form? In this dome projection, image and sound create a layered, shifting, rhythmic, and musically harmonious experience of duration. It becomes a cosmic kaleidoscope that may invite you to dance or to meditate.
My Father is Turning into Soil Fulldome

My Father is Turning into Soil Fulldome

Noa Jansma seeks an earthly afterlife in this special fulldome presentation at ARTIS-Planetarium, sharing recordings of microscopic life in her father’s grave. Visitors can also taste root vegetables grown in that same soil if they choose.
Notes On Blindness: Into Darkness Fulldome
