In addition to online ticket sales, this year there is also the option to physically purchase tickets at the festival box office from November 12-22.
Frequently asked questions
IDFA 2026 takes place from Thursday, November 12 to Sunday, November 22.
Ticket prices and discount options and rates are as follows:
Regular screenings, excluding special programs: €13,50 (full price) and €8 (discount price)*
- Discount applies to students. City Pass holders receive free admission to the first screening, after which a discounted rate of €10 applies. You can use your pass to purchase tickets for the regular program. Your pass will be validated in the shopping cart.
Extra savings with the IDFA Strippenkaart
If you want to watch a lot of films, both online and in theaters, it’s best to buy an IDFA Strippenkaart. More information and purchase at idfa.nl/strippenkaart
Note: On sale from October 15 at 12:00 PM. The link to the purchase page will be active from October 15 at 12:00 pm.
Please note that the strip card for the Pavilion (see this page) is a different product and cannot be used during the festival.
All special screenings will be available on idfa.nl/specials from October 14. Starting September 30 at 12:00, some IDFA Specials (i.e. Volkskrantdag, Groene Amsterdammerdag en VPROdag) will already be on sale.
You can pay using iDEAL | Wero, Visa or Mastercard.
- Monday, October 26 at 12:00: Pre-sale for the entire festival starts for (Special) Friends, guests, and VIP cardholders.
- Wednesday, October 28 at 12:00: Start regular ticket sales for the entire festival
In addition to online ticket sales, this year there is also the option to purchase physical tickets at the festival box office from November 12 to 22.
Cineville members have an advantage during IDFA! Your membership entitles you to free tickets for IDFA screenings at Het Documentaire Paviljoen, Eye, Rialto De Pijp, Kriterion, and/or De Balie during Cineville Fridays and Saturdays on Friday, November 13 and 20, and Saturday November 14 and 21. With your pass, you must reserve your ticket(s) at least 2 days in advance.
Stadspas (City Pass) holders can order tickets for the regular program. The validation of the city pass takes place in the shopping cart. For Stadspas holders with a green dot, the first screening is free; after that, a discounted rate of €10 applies
Students can register with their educational email address for a MyIDFA account and then take advantage of the discounted rate of €8 for all regular screenings. More info at idfa.nl/student.

Would you like to visit IDFA with a wheelchair? After purchasing your ticket, please send the title, time, and location of the screening to service@idfa.nl. We will contact you. More information about the accessibility of our locations can be found here. Additionally, IDFA organizes several sensory-friendly screenings at Het Ketelhuis, and throughout the festival, there are multiple films available with Dutch and English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. idfa.nl/accessibility
Unfortunately, that is not possible. However, it is possible to exchange the tickets for another screening (same ticket price), subject to availability. Only if the screening is canceled will you be eligible for a refund.
Enter the promotional code in the 'promo code' field at checkout. Don't forget to select the number of tickets. Note: free tickets must also be checked out. Special Friends do not need a promotional code for free tickets. These rights are linked to the MyIDFA account you registered with. You will then see a €0 rate for the screening you wish to book.

The film most appreciated by the festival audience wins the IDFA Audience Award. After a screening you will get a voting link via email. This email is sent to the email address with which you bought your ticket(s). Throughout the festival, the daily standings will be available on the website. The winner will be announced on Friday, November 20, followed by a screening on Saturday, November 21, and additional screenings of the audience favorite in the Best of IDFA: Audience Favorites program. Visit idfa.nl/audienceaward and idfa.nl/bestof. During the festival, you can check the daily standings at idfa.nl/festival.
All new feature films (year of production 2025 or after) selected for the following program sections at IDFA are eligible: International Competition, Envision Competition, Luminous, Frontlight, Best of Fests, Signed, and Paradocs. All screenings up until the November 20 date are open to voting, except for screenings followed by a talk and the world premiere screening of a Dutch production (Dutch co-productions are eligible). Exceptions can be made to ensure a minimum of two eligible screenings for voting.
