Old traditions, AI, and militarization converge in rural Hungary. Fourteen-year-old Hunor’s family appears to be living an idyllic farming life, surrounded by animals and nature. Their skills turn out to be essential for ZalaZONE, an ultramodern testing ground for autonomous vehicles practically in their backyard. Together with their dogs, they keep small wild animals off the testing ground. Hunor looks at the world with infectious enthusiasm and optimism; for him, this job is a big adventure. But even he seems to be realizing that the focus of the test runs is shifting from self-driving cars and tractors to military vehicles.
Told from Hunor’s perspective, with little context or explanation, the film invites viewers to reflect on broader questions. How do political, economic, and cultural changes affect rural communities? How do ordinary people respond and adapt? And which traditional values will survive?
