In Search of the Grey Bird with Green Stripes
Sellam saw a mysterious gray bird with green stripes in a vision. At the edge of the Atlas Mountains, south of Marrakesh, he sets out in search of the bird. Adrift since his wife died in a flash flood, he believes the bird carries some trace of his wife, and he desperately searches for signs of her.
The people around him are worried about him. Sellam tries to earn a living by searching for water sources for clients, acting as a kind of human divining rod. His relationship with the filmmakers remains one of mutual suspicion. He admits to them that he exaggerates the spasms and pain that his work appears to cause him. But is that all he's exaggerating?
This enigmatic portrait of a challenging and uncompromising man—exploring grief, surrender, and trust—leaves the viewer with more questions than answers: is this man sincere, or is he fooling everyone, including the filmmakers?
