Synopsis

There are now millions of deepfakes online, and 90 percent of them involve unauthorized porn—audio, video or images that have been created by intelligent software and are almost indistinguishable from the real thing. In this partly animated account of a victim of deepfakes, we follow Taylor, who discovers that pornographic videos are circulating using her face and identity. Because the police barely respond, the engineering student, with the help of an expert and a fellow student, sets out herself to investigate.

She uncovers an online world of misogynistic chat groups, in which men and boys give each other tips and assignments to put women and girls in their place and silence them. Meanwhile, legislation fails to keep up with reality, and victims remain silent out of shame, while the fake material not only impacts their mental well-being, but also their career opportunities. The number of deepfakes doubles every six months, as Another Body reports at the end.
